Get hail reports on your rooted Android.

Here's a Tasker app profile that gets hail report data from SPC and sends the info via SMS. I'm working on a profile that will show a simple pop up to view the reports on. It'll be done when it gets done. You can download this one for now.

Things you'll need.
1. UNLIMITED SMS !!!!!
2. A rooted android device.
3. Tasker from the android app market
4. Some type of file manager that will let you access files on your SD card.

You can download the profile files here.Profile #1 ,
and here  Profile #2

Some devices will allow you to download these with the tasked app.
Some devices will save the files to your sdcard/downloads folder.
Regardless of where they go, you need to make sure the two files get put in sdcard/tasker/profiles.

once you have the files there open up your tasker app.
The two profiles you see on the screen won't be there yet.
1. long press on the "profile" button in the upper left corner.
Now you'll see a popup window like the one above.
2. choose "Import"
Now you should see all the profiles that are in your sdcard/tasker/profiles directory.
3. Choose one of the files you see ("Reset or Hail_Reports).
it doesn't matter in which order you import them, just make sure you import both.

Now the profiles will show up on your "profiles" screen.
4. press the Hail reports label and your screen will look like the one above.
5. Choose the task labeled "Second".
6. Select the 3rd activity labeled "send sms" and replace the "x's" with your phone number. Include your area code and don't use any -, / . Just straight numbers.
click the green checkmark in the lower left corner ( this saves any changes you've made to the task.
When yo u see the list of activities (like above) click the green checkmark again.

Back on your "profiles" home screen you can select the time parameters and change them to whatever you want. I wouldn't recommend changing the "start" time but, you can end the program whenever you wish. Though any time past 10pm hasn't been tested. The "repeat" time is how often you want the program to update. I have it set for 30 minutes but, you can change it to whatever you want. when your done press the green checkmark. and from your "profiles" home screen make sure the button in the bottom right corner says "ON" with the green light on.

*The reset profile is used to reset all the variables values. I have this programmed to reset at 8am. If you change the time parameters for the "hail reports" to anytime earlier than 8am you should change the parameters in the "reset" profile too. Make sure the time to reset is before the time for the "hail reports" starts.

***** If you download this I would not recommend starting this app in the evening. It will automatically send you every report from midnight and if it was a heavy hail day your phone will blow up with SMS's. Just wait till the next morning to start it.

Feel free to donate a few bucks if you find this useful ..
